“You are kidding! If you are giving so much content
for ‘FREE’ who will buy from you?”
my friend was very much worried.
“Is it some kind of a social service you are doing to empower people?” she continued.
Yes, she was very much right! It was not her fault.
That is how exactly we had been taught about business.
Keep everything like a top secret else someone will steal it!
Want to know the truth?
The time has changed! Thanks to internet!
There is everything out there for free!
Books, courses, movies, seminars, workshops, TV serials, school coaching!
Everything, you name it!
Then what is so secret about your product/service?
Even if you think it is some ‘Super Invention’, trust me very soon some big player will jump in & will crush the market. Remember the rice bran oil?
So the point here is stop worrying & treating your product/service like a red tape file.

How is it related to ‘Free’!

In the modern world of internet you can’t SELL
anything to anyone, but they BUY from you!
So the best way is give them a flavour of your product/service.
They will not only buy for your content but the way you deliver it.
Think, if someone asks you out for a coffee and you ended up visiting a local stall near to your place!
Would you expect to go to Starbucks next time with that person?
Off course not!
There is nothing wrong with a local coffee stall. I do love it.
But the point here is setting expectations.
If you are thinking to give some ordinary content for free & reserve the best stuff for your paid product.
You will be judged based upon free content like that coffee.
And there is a possibility that they will not feel like buying your paid content.
So always give your best content as free.
That’s all for today!
Are you still worried if someone steals your product/service?
Or are you hesitant to share any of your content for free?

Hi Sheetal, your posts comes at a very regular interval and that's the plus point about your blog.
ReplyDeleteI have stopped believing in free stuff for selling any products. Now a day it only reveals the desperation of increasing sales by companies who are facing heavy losses. The marketers are not equipped with the proper product knowledge and because of that in spite of giving free stuffs, the sales are not boosted. Customer does not go for the offers with "conditions apply" clauses. Companies marketing and advertisement expenses eats up their bottom line and the effects are seen when they start selling poor quality products with very poor after sales services.
Thank you Deepak for reading & sending a reply.
Delete'Free stuff for selling any products' No, no a ‘HUGE NO’.
When it comes to selling, I always believed in Premium Brand Positioning which includes no discounts or free stuff. I completely agree, ‘Free’ for selling is disaster.
The price shoppers has zero loyalty & normally big pains.
The primary objective of ‘Free’ is for Lead Generation i.e. to attract more customers.
Never use ‘Free’ as a strategy for selling.
Free is not one time activity. It is an ongoing process whether you are selling anything or not.
I hope that helps.
Thanks & Regards,
Sheetal
