What is your Special Gift?

It was 5th March.
I got a call from a friend who is an event organizer.
She was conducting some event on 8th March for women’s day.
One of her key speaker quitted at the last moment.
And now she wanted me to speak at her event.

It was an awesome event.
The speakers at the event were the ones I really admired so I agreed without hesitation.
It was an honour.

Also another big advantage was, I didn't have to purchase the expensive pass. J

I asked, “What topic you would like me to talk?”
She got shocked,” Topic?”
Now it was my turn,” Yaa, topic like marketing, social media, women entrepreneurship etc.”

“Hell, from when you started talking on topic? You tell stories. Come and tell some of them”
Now it was my turn to get shocked.
She continued,” I am going to add your title/designation as a storyteller.
“Ahh what?” I got even bigger shock now.
“Storyteller that is what you are. Girls love your stories. That’s your USP.
Darling common now, I know you know that well” she added.

I started imagining myself ,”Someone wearing long black gown, a witch style hat, a wand and spreading magical dust all around.”

I gathered courage, ‘Wait... There is some mistake.”
“I am an engineer from a good institute, got my MBA degree, and worked for top MNCs & multiple clients for 10 years. You can call me any out of that list. How about a coach or a consultant or may be a mentor?”

She continued, “No Girl… that is what all you might be. But who cares? Your audience knows you as a story teller and believe me that is what you are. Your stories are your weapon and you are really bringing a difference in their life.”

I made a last attempt,” How about storytelling mentor”
“Gosh, you know that nothing like that exists” she concluded.

"Ok" I gave it up.
“Say whatever you like” I hang up the phone.

That conversation was an eye opener.
Her event gave me a new identity. A Storyteller. Wow!

I learnt my lesson.
Many of the times we confuse between our education, degree, our profession and our role with our identity. In fact we ignore our precious gift which defines our true self.

We all have that gift.
But it gets vanished in the noise around us.
We fake ourselves to fit into the system imposed roles & degrees.
And get ashamed to get titled by our very unique ability which differentiate us from others.

Stop that! Have a look somewhere deep in your heart.
Look for that special gift that only you have.
There is a possibility that the world might need that gift.

Once you find that gift the magic will begin.

Now it is your turn. What about you?
Have you already found that gift? If yes then tell me your story.
If No, then what are you struggling with?
